In October of 2017 I made my dream come true and booked a trip to NYC! It was a trip that I planned with my 9 year old daughter. The trip became even better when I discovered my best friend from Ottawa and her sisters were going to be there at the same time. We decided immediately that going to see the broadway musical Come From Away was a must! We were all born and raised in NL and this was the highlight of our trip! We laughed and cried as we watched the story unfold. In a time of crisis seeing people come together, complete strangers showing that they cared and we couldn’t be prouder of where we came from. It was truly heartwarming. We had our NL flags and waved them with delight as the musical ended. We just had to meet the magnificent cast and waited outside where one by the one they exited the theatre on 236 W 45th street in NYC!!!! They stopped for a brief chat, excitedly talking about NL and signed our flags. I always knew NL was a special place with exceptional people. I don’t think I will ever forget that feeling of being so proud of the province I grew up in.
